The Importance of Well-Being for Overall Health and Well-Being
What is health? In our society it has a more complicated meaning. For some it is clear cut, easy to define and to others it can be a very vague concept. Generally speaking, however, it is an idea that encompasses a person’s ability to live their life in a healthy manner.
“Health,” according to the World Health Organization, “is a state of full physical, emotional and social well being and not just the absence of sickness and disease.” A variety of other definitions have also been used over the years for various purposes. In the United States, for example, the definition of “health” is something along the lines of being fit, strong, healthy and well balanced. Other people’s definition of health can include a specific lifestyle choice they make that promotes good health. There are even people who consider a healthy diet, regular exercise and reduced consumption of tobacco products to be a form of health issue.
The concepts of health and illness are closely related but they are not the same thing. Being ill means that you have a physical ailment. Health on the other hand, in the broadest sense, refers to your capacity to cope with or handle day to day life. Mental health refers to your mental well-being; your ability to enjoy life and cope with its many challenges. This can include your ability to concentrate, your moods and how you handle stress and anxiety as well as your relationships with others.
Your health depends on your lifestyle, both diet and exercise, as well as other factors such as the environment you live in, your education level and your family’s medical history. The proper care you receive can help you to avoid many of the diseases that you may be exposed to. Illness can affect your body’s functions as well as your emotions. For instance, those who do not receive a proper amount of rest can become easily fatigued, which can lead to a loss of concentration, depression and anxiety.
People who do not receive a good health status are more likely to develop illnesses and even die from them. This is because they are more likely to experience stress in their daily lives and have poor eating habits. When someone experiences too much stress, their bodily functions are not able to function at its highest level. They are also more prone to illnesses and the most common illness being cardiovascular disease. A low level of stress is considered to be very important for overall health and well-being, and therefore this should be one of the first things that you should work on if you want to maintain a good health status.
Mental illness can negatively impact the physical health as well as the emotional well-being. This is because people who are suffering from mental illness tend to feel shame and eventually feel that they are worthless, when they do not receive the treatment they need. Some of the symptoms that may indicate that you have a mental illness include feeling paranoid and having irrational thoughts. Those who suffer from post traumatic stress disorder are also at risk of developing mental illness. This is because their bodies are not used to experiencing extreme stress, which can lead to panic attacks and depression. In addition, those who abuse alcohol are at risk of developing an issue with physical health as well as the emotional health, and this can cause heart attack and stroke.
